Health Parliament™

During the course of many years, we realised that while there are many forums that profess to impact policies, but they have not been able to impact enough to make healthcare accessible, affordable and of acceptable quality. COVID has exposed the reality of the healthcare system and it’s a call to action for all of us to galvanise our efforts for transforming healthcare without any further delay. This lead to the decision to establish this think tank – Health Parliament™.

We aim to continuously engage with leaders across stakeholders and keep sharing our inputs to policymakers on a regular basis. Also, we will undertake primary and secondary research, and most importantly, we have developed our proprietary leadership development model for the healthcare sector. We aim to engage, impact and improve healthcare.

Our Objective

To do real work, that is primary research to support our work in public policy. Based on ground-level work, we want to be a trusted partner for Governments and the industry, when it comes to policy ideation, gap analysis, debates and solutions to the challenges policymakers and the industry face.

Public Taskforce For Accountable Healthcare

Health Parliament launched the Public Taskforce for Accountable Healthcare on the 2nd anniversary of COVID. We believe healthcare should not be supplier-driven but demand-driven based on consumers’ needs. The initiative intends to make healthcare accessible, affordable, accountable, and outcome-driven. Join this task-force to drive the bottom-up change.

Global Center of Excellence & Innovation for Digital Health

Global Center of Excellence & Innovation for Digital Health is an initiative that lists innovations in the healthcare space across the continuum of care across governance, finance, and delivery of healthcare services. Global Center of Excellence & Innovation for Digital Health is a platform to convert various islands of excellence existing in pockets into centers of excellence to disseminate best practices and ideas so that society can benefit from them. We are also developing the best practices for an “Innovation Tool-Kit” to help healthcare organizations embed innovation in the processes and systems.

Healthcare Guidelines Development Group

Over the past many years, guidelines have become an increasingly important tool to maintain and enhance appropriate practices, cost-effectiveness, standardized healthcare across the country. The guidelines are developed through a robust decision-making process involving stakeholders to optimize care outcomes and discourage the performance of ineffective or alarming practices. Guidelines can help avoid inefficiencies and lead to outcome driven healthcare.

Just On You (JOY)

Organizations and governments spend billions of dollars promoting healthy habits and spreading awareness through public health campaigns. Yet, these campaigns have not yielded the desired results. Something is missing! The research studies conducted by Health Parliament reveal the lack of the last mile connect for the campaigns – Disconnect between Right information and the Right Action. Over the past two years, we have tried to understand this challenge and created a path-breaking campaign to bridge this divide. Hence the campaign JOY- Just on You. With JOY, we hope to make one person from each household a champion for healthy habits and timely decisions for health; the individual could be a son, daughter, sister, mom, or someone who will nudge the family for healthier choices – The ‘Joy’ of the family.

World Healthcare Communication Week

Medical science has advanced, and for most diseases, we either know how to cure or manage them. Overall, the focus is on providing the treatment. However, we have still not addressed the increasing burden of diseases. More funding or more healthcare coverage has not resulted in better health outcomes because the world has yet to focus on the ‘basics’ of health. ‘Health Communication’ remains one of the biggest challenges across communities and countries. To address this challenge, Health Parliament proposes the ‘Healthcare Communication Week’ to bring the focus back to basics. We have a doctor’s day, nurses’ day, and several days focusing on diseases, etc. (https://www.who.int/campaigns), but healthcare communication has no day dedicated to it, and without addressing the communication (interaction between the care seeker and care provider), we cannot deliver appropriate healthcare interventions. Health Parliament invites global stakeholders to celebrate World Healthcare Communication Week in the 1st week of April, concluding with World Health Day (7th April). We should use this opportunity to focus on all aspects of healthcare-related communication and conduct programs and campaigns to address the fundamental issue of ‘interaction’ and ‘information’ for communicating about Health care. We hope this global campaign will save millions of lives every year.

Global Digital Health Professionals Council

This is a global platform to bring together healthcare professionals working in Digital Health. Digital health professionals can learn, share, interact and work together through this platform to boost the adoption of digital health. The membership is free but only by invitation.

Women for Digital Health

The initiative “Women for Digital Health” will provide an ecosystem for encouraging women in leadership positions for Digital Health. Even though there are more women than men enrolling in the healthcare industry as students, gender parity is still not reflected in leadership positions in healthcare. The shift from manager to senior manager is where women in healthcare experience the biggest decline. The gender distribution of the healthcare workforce shows a definite numerical advantage for men in the physicians and healthcare workforce, whilst women exceed men in the category of nurses. Fewer female executives mean fewer female role models for women just beginning their careers. Hence, strong role models and a supportive work environment are crucial to promoting female engagement. We need to address this from an ecosystem perspective, hence this initiative, ‘Women for Digital Health’, which will focus on providing an ecosystem for encouraging women in leadership positions. Digital Health Associates and its various SBUs will focus and invest in encouraging and supporting women to join Digital Health and help move upwards in the hierarchy to take up leadership roles in Digital Health. Given that digital health will become the nervous system of healthcare delivery, women leaders will lead in shaping the future of healthcare.
